Reports To: Head of Previs
Key Purpose of Role:
Previs artists need to be able to use a variety of techniques to compose and animate shots that work in sequence together for the purpose of telling a story.
Primary software used would be maya, but general willingness and enthusiasm to use other packages like nuke(not in depth) and having initiative is key.
Main Responsibilities and Duties:
Animate all aspects within a shot. Often this would include characters, vehicles and the camera.
Using 2D cards within the scene in creative ways to sell certain aspects of the shot is often essential.
Being able to work well in a team is important.
Taking notes and turning a shot around in a quick time-frame is also a key part of the role.
Experience and Skills:
Experience with key-frame animation and manipulating motion capture data is top priority.
A knowledge of cinematography and a keen eye for shot composition.
Having a background in general 3D is helpful. Simple modelling/texturing tasks would sometimes be required.
Good communication and organisational skills.
Creative problem solver and good attention to detail.
Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines, whilst maintaining high quality results.
Ability to work as part of a team as well as alone.
