    Double Negative Feature Animation, a newly realised feature animation facility, is looking for a Layout Supervisor to join our team. Together we will bring the vision of both major Hollywood studios and independent productions to life.


    Key Purpose of the Job:
    The Layout Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the rough layout and final layout teams and ensuring creative aims of the project are achieved. The Supervisor is responsible for guiding the process of layout, creating shots & sequences, and telling the story through the application of filmmaking principles. They will creatively and technically lead their teams throughout the show, ensuring that good and clear communication occurs at all times between the artists, production team and show leads/supervisors. They will contribute to bidding and crewing for their project, and have further responsibilities to the facility in terms of managing their team, providing feedback on crew, and proactively improving the facility pipeline for the long term.


    Needs to Do:
    Work closely with department supervisors to deliver the film.
    Verify technical solutions proposed by crew members, proposes own solutions to particularly unique challenges.
    Work closely with visual effects supervisor to interpret the creative vision of the director, and plan a pragmatic way to deliver on that brief.
    Provide leadership for the team including education and mentoring for artists.


    Needs to Know
    Thorough knowledge of Maya.
    8+ years of experience within a layout department (Feature Animation preferred).
    Prior experience leading teams.
    Experience of working with clients & directors.
    Strong working knowledge of cameras and lenses.
    Familiarity with pipeline development and management issues.
    Demonstrable strong abilities in visual storytelling, composition and staging.
