    Key Purpose of the Job: The VFX editor is responsible for providing creative, operational, and technical support to Double Negative Feature Animation's editorial department.

     
    Key Responsibilities:
    Build and maintain the editorial pipeline for ingesting and delivering media between DNeg Feature Animation and the editors.
    Ingest and publish cut updates from the editors into DNeg's pipeline, maintaining a thorough knowledge of the current and all previous cuts.
    Effectively communicate cut changes and day-to-day statuses to the production team.
    Liaise with Feature Animation supervisors and artists to review and resolve editorial issues.
    Conform and deliver video media to the editors, cataloguing previous iterations.
    Serve as quality control for sound, picture, sync, etc.
    Assemble storyboards and previs media into reels.
    Operate some dailies, screenings, and presentations.
    Setup and maintain Avid project structure, the daily operation of the Avid Film Composer.
    Support production in organising and delivering media for marketing and consumer product requests.
    Mentor and support editorial assistants.


    Requirements:

    Minimum 3 years experience working as an Editorial Assistant or similar role on feature films. Experience in animated features desired, but not essential.
    Minimum 3 years experience with Avid Media/Film Composer; additional experience with Premiere is a plus.
    Minimum 2 years experience with Macintosh OS
    Minimum 2 years experience with media operations (time code, codecs, LUTS and colour space, etc.)
    Familiarity with audio engineering process and technology.
    Experience in an extensive film production database, such as Shotgun.
    Experience with Cinesync and RV.
    Good working knowledge of all editorial pipeline tools, including EDL and AAF tools.

     
    Skills and Abilities:
    Superb written and verbal communication skills.
    Basic Fedora Linux experience requested, but not required.
