• Technical Resource Manager

    Key Purpose of the Job:

    The Resource Manager is responsible for analysing, identifying, documenting, recommending and implementing policies and best practices for monitoring and managing production resource needs, such as disks, processors, licenses and workstations.


    Needs to Do:

    • Work directly with Production and Supervision to forecast needs related to software licenses, render farm capacity and disk space
    • Work and communicate closely with Show Production Teams to balance shared resources
    • Work with shows to improve workflows and practices to ensure resources are used as efficiently as possible
    • Work closely with the IT Team to manage license purchases & installations
    • Be point of contact for render farm and disk utilization questions
    • Provide regular resource usage reports and forecasts to studio, show and technology leadership, highlighting hot spots for the studio etc.
    • Identify pending resource issues and drive the planning and implementation process to adjust to show needs
    • Constantly analyse data workflow and recommend areas that can improve efficiency
    • Work with the IT Team to further develop tools for managing, monitoring and reporting on resources across the facility
    • Cooperate with the IO Department to ensure shows adopt and follow proper data management procedures


    Needs to Know:

    • In depth knowledge and experience with UNIX/Linux operating systems
    • 3-5 years professional scripting experience (mainly Perl/Python)
    • Strong communication skills, being able to effectively interact with diverse teams
    • Customer service orientated, experience supporting end users is an asset
    • Leadership experience a plus
    • In depth knowledge of the lifecycle of a VFX show
    • Able to work autonomously as well as in a team
    • Great attention to detail and strong organizational skills whilst being able to multi-task and prioritise
    • Motivated self-starter with excellent time management skills, able to work within tight deadlines
    • Analytical and Data reporting skills are an asset
