Double Negative’s Production Technology department develops and supports ground breaking software and tools, which ensure that the studio is at the forefront of global VFX production.
Our talented engineers support multiple film projects in parallel, from initial design and onset supervision, to production and post-production. They develop and support pioneering tools that enable our artists to tackle increasingly complex challenges with stunning - and award-winning - results.
Our engineering teams are knowledgeable and interested in new and emerging technologies and are logical and practical in their approach to solving complex problems. We help facilitate exceptional VFX and animation work on projects ranging from blockbuster epics to television dramas, so the variety of challenges available allows our smart, driven and adaptable engineers opportunities to learn and grow.
As a Pipeline Support Engineer you will support the framework through which all our data flows. This framework comprises many in-house tools and workflows as well as utilising industry standard software. It supports the creative process and is highly configurable in order to meet the varying needs of film and TV production.
You will work in a close-knit team under the supervision of a team lead to provide this crucial service to every show in the studio. You will be responsible for setting up and configuring tools and workflows for production and then validating your work with methodical testing before handing the results over to production crew. You will troubleshoot and solve issues, providing front line technical support to artists.
You will also work closely with our software development teams, often communicating with them at the programming level. You will be a well-organised, motivated individual who is quick to learn, able to work under pressure and proactive when dealing with multiple and varied issues that often require resolution within tight deadlines.
As well as being technically proficient, you will also need to be a good communicator – keeping artists and production crews updated on your progress and producing documentation on new tools, processes and workflows. You will need to articulate complex technical information to non-technical people.
The Pipeline Support Engineer role can lead to more senior roles in the support team, or crossover roles in Software Development, QA, Project Management and other areas of Production Technology.
Our Production Technology department is committed to nurturing a diverse and exciting workplace. As a result our engineers have a variety of backgrounds and originate from a number of different countries, while sharing the goal of developing cutting-edge software to deliver world-class VFX.
